About the Marshall Acton III Bluetooth Home Speaker
Marshall's Acton III is the most compact speaker in the brand's home range, made for a shelf, desk or sideboard rather than outdoor use. It keeps the classic amp-inspired look, with the signature Marshall script and brass control knobs for volume, bass and track skipping, plus a play/pause button.
Inside, a two-way stereo setup pairs a 4-inch woofer with two outward-angled tweeters, driven by Class D amplification rated at 60W. Frequency response runs from 45 to 20,000 Hz, and Dynamic Loudness adjusts the tonal balance so music stays full at low volumes as well as high. You can connect over Bluetooth 5.2 or plug a device into the 3.5 mm input, and the speaker receives over-the-air updates.
It runs on AC power, so there is no battery to manage, and it is not water-resistant. There is no Wi-Fi or voice assistant, which suits listeners who want a simple, music-first speaker. Marshall builds it with 70% recycled plastic and vegan materials.
What reviewers say
T3 found the Acton III delivers big sound from a small cabinet, and RTINGS credits it with solid low-end punch and enough volume to fill most rooms. RTINGS also flags the trade-offs: a cut in the treble can leave delicate vocals short on detail, the narrow sound dispersion means you need to sit in front of it, and there is no Wi-Fi or voice assistant.
Pros
- Big, punchy sound for its size
- Gets loud enough to fill most rooms
- Classic amp-style design with physical knobs
- Simple Bluetooth plus a 3.5 mm wired input
Cons
- Treble can sound subdued, softening vocal detail
- Narrow sweet spot; sound drops off to the sides
- No Wi-Fi, voice assistant or multiroom
