About the Bose SoundLink Max Portable Bluetooth Speaker
The Bose SoundLink Max is a portable wireless Bluetooth speaker from Bose that works indoors and out, so it can move from the living room to the backyard or a campsite. It runs on a 4,600 mAh battery rated for up to 20 hours of playback.
Alongside Bluetooth streaming, it has an AUX input for plugging in a wired audio source, plus a USB port.
It's a good fit for anyone who wants one speaker that can travel between the living room, patio and picnic table without needing a power outlet nearby.
What reviewers say
Reviewers find the SoundLink Max a capable portable speaker with reasonably neutral sound, a rugged IP67 water- and dustproof build, stereo playback, aptX support and a 3.5 mm aux input. The main drawbacks are its high full price, its weight for carrying around, and a rubberized finish that picks up dust and debris.
Pros
- Reasonably neutral sound that can be adjusted with the app's EQ
- Rugged, IP67-rated water- and dustproof build
- Stereo playback, aptX support and a 3.5 mm aux input
- Can pair with a second SoundLink Max for stereo
Cons
- Expensive at full price; reviewers suggest waiting for a sale
- Heavy for a portable speaker
- Rubberized finish collects dust and debris
