About the Ashley Dolante Upholstered Bed
The Dolante is Ashley's upholstered queen bed in pale beige fabric: a tall headboard with square button tufting, a low footboard and matching upholstered side rails, all on an engineered wood frame. The look is modern platform styling with a soft, neutral finish that suits most bedding.
In the box are the headboard, footboard and rails; the hardware is packed in the open compartment on the back of the headboard, and Ashley estimates about 30 minutes of assembly. A foundation or box spring is required and is not included, and the frame is also compatible with an adjustable base. Ashley rates it for 650 lb.
Assembled, it measures 66.5 in wide, 87.25 in long and 60.75 in tall, with the rails about 3 in off the floor. The mattress is sold separately and delivery is to your door.
What reviewers say
This is one of Ashley's most-reviewed beds: 4.5 out of 5 from 947 ratings on its site, with 70% five-star and 5% one-star. Owners praise the elegant neutral look, the tall tufted headboard, the linen-look fabric and a substantial frame that feels steady, and several mention the zipped compartment behind the headboard that keeps the hardware together. Complaints cluster around assembly, with unlabelled screws, misaligned holes and a three-hour build for one couple, plus a strong smell on arrival for some, a low height that makes a box spring essential, and the odd report of unsanded rails. The beige also reads darker than the photos for a few buyers.
Pros
- Neutral, tufted design that owners say looks more expensive than it is
- Sturdy frame once built; hardware stored behind the headboard
- Compatible with adjustable bases and rated to 650 lb
Cons
- Assembly is the common gripe: unlabelled hardware, misaligned holes and two people needed
- Needs a box spring or foundation, which adds cost; some report an initial odor
- Beige can look darker in person than in the photos
