About the Sonos Era 300 Smart Speaker with Dolby Atmos
The Sonos Era 300 is a Wi-Fi smart speaker built for spatial audio. Six drivers placed across the front, sides and top work with custom waveguides to project sound left, right, forward and overhead, and the speaker supports Dolby Atmos Music.
Stream from your favorite services over Wi-Fi, or pair a phone over Bluetooth with the press of a button. A turntable or other source can be connected with an aux cable and the Sonos Line-In Adapter. Voice control works with Amazon Alexa, Siri and Sonos Voice Control, Sonos Radio offers free stations, and regular software updates add features over time.
On its own it's a music speaker for the whole room. Paired as rear surrounds with a Sonos Arc or Beam (Gen 2), two Era 300s add side and overhead effects to a home theater setup. It suits existing Sonos owners and anyone starting a Sonos setup.
What reviewers say
Reviewers say the Era 300 delivers convincing spatial sound from a single speaker, and that Trueplay room tuning noticeably cleans up its bass-heavy default sound. It's well connected, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay and voice control. Reviewers also noted some glitchy features, privacy prompts during setup, and a cost that adds up quickly if you build out a full Sonos system.
Pros
- Immersive Dolby Atmos and spatial sound from one speaker
- Trueplay room tuning noticeably improves the balance
- Plenty of ways to connect: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AirPlay
- Works with Alexa, Siri and Sonos Voice Control
Cons
- Bass-heavy out of the box until tuned
- Some glitchy features, including AirPlay casting issues
- Setup requires a Sonos account and location access
