About the Dyson V8 Absolute Cordless Stick Vacuum, Silver
The Dyson V8 Absolute is a cordless stick vacuum that converts to a handheld in one click, so you can move from floors to high-up places and other spots above the floor without swapping machines. It runs on Dyson's V8 digital motor and has two power modes: Powerful mode for longer everyday cleaning and MAX mode when you need extra suction.
Dyson rates the battery for up to 40 minutes of runtime, while MAX mode runs for up to 7 minutes. Filtration covers the whole machine and includes a HEPA filter, and the bagless bin empties without you having to touch the dirt. The kit includes two cleaner heads and four tools, plus a docking station that stores the vacuum and recharges it so it is ready for the next use.
At about 6 lb, it is light enough to carry from room to room and lift toward ceilings and shelves in handheld mode. It suits anyone who wants a vacuum they can grab for quick daily pickups instead of dragging out a corded upright.
What reviewers say
Reviewers still regard the V8 Absolute as a capable cordless vacuum, crediting its suction on both carpet and hard floors, its broad tool kit and how easily it switches to handheld use. The main reservations are the short runtime in MAX mode, a hard plastic trigger grip that can get uncomfortable, and the fact that newer Dyson models offer longer battery life and more features.
Pros
- Strong suction on carpets and hard floors
- Generous tool kit for floors, furniture and above-floor cleaning
- Quick to convert into a handheld for stairs, shelves and ceilings
- Noticeably quieter than earlier Dyson cordless models
Cons
- MAX mode drains the battery in a few minutes
- Trigger-style grip can become uncomfortable during longer sessions
- Newer Dyson models offer longer runtimes and extra features
