About the Concept2 Model D Indoor Rower with PM5 Monitor
The Concept2 Model D is an air-resistance indoor rower paired with the PM5 performance monitor. A damper with settings from 1 to 10 controls the airflow, so you can change how each stroke feels. Because each stroke powers the machine, it doesn't need to be plugged into a wall outlet.
The PM5 shows real-time data such as time, distance, calories and stroke rate, stores workouts on the monitor and connects over Bluetooth to heart rate monitors, phones and tablets. It works with more than 40 apps, including ErgData, and a device holder keeps your phone or tablet in view. The sliding seat sits 14 inches high on a monorail, with adjustable footrests, foot straps and an ergonomic handle.
The frame pairs aluminum front legs with steel rear legs and supports users up to 500 lbs. After a session it separates into two pieces or stands upright, and caster wheels make it easy to move. Assembly takes under half an hour with the included tools. It suits home rowers who want a durable, data-focused machine for serious training.
What reviewers say
Reviewers widely treat this Concept2 rower as the benchmark for home rowing, praising its smooth, consistent air resistance, detailed PM5 data and long-lasting build. The drawbacks raised are a price above many budget rowers, a monitor that runs on D-cell batteries, and extras such as a wall hanger or seat pad costing more.
Pros
- Smooth, realistic rowing stroke
- Accurate, detailed PM5 data with Bluetooth
- Durable build that holds up to heavy use
- Easy to split, store upright and roll away
Cons
- Costs more than many budget rowers
- Monitor needs D-cell batteries
- Wall-storage hanger and seat pad are extra
