About the Roland TD-07DMK V-Drums Electronic Drum Kit
The Roland TD-07DMK is a compact V-Drums kit for drummers who want realistic practice at home without taking over the room. Double-ply mesh heads on the snare and tom pads give a natural stick feel and a very quiet response that helps keep noise down, and the stand-mounted KD-2 kick pad gives you a bass drum target in a small footprint.
The kit is built around the TD-07 sound module, with 143 instruments, 25 preset kits and space for 25 of your own, plus EQ and ambience to shape them. The 8-inch PDX-8 snare has separate head and rim zones, a CY-5 hi-hat works with a control pedal for open and closed sounds, and the CY-5 crash and ride support choking for more expressive playing. Built-in Coach functions help develop your timing and track progress, Bluetooth lets you stream songs from your phone to play along or send MIDI to music apps, and USB records audio and MIDI to a computer.
Everything mounts on a sturdy four-post rack, and the pads fold away when you are finished. It suits beginners and returning drummers looking for a quiet, space-saving kit. Note that a kick pedal is not included, so plan to add one.
What reviewers say
MusicRadar sees the TD-07DMK as a great match for less experienced drummers, with sounds that work right out of the box and surprisingly deep editing and effects for growing into. The Drum Ninja also singles out Roland's sound quality and responsive mesh pads as the kit's strongest points at this level. Recurring criticisms are the single-zone toms and lack of a ride bell, a small kick pad locked in one position, and sound features that experienced drummers may find limited.
Pros
- Excellent Roland sounds straight out of the box
- Quiet, responsive mesh pads
- Deep kit editing, effects and Coach functions to grow into
- Bluetooth and USB connectivity for play-along and recording
Cons
- Single-zone toms and no ride bell
- Small kick pad fixed in one position
- Experienced drummers may outgrow its sound features
