About the Ninja CREAMi Scoop & Swirl Ice Cream and Soft Serve Maker (NC701)
The Ninja CREAMi Scoop & Swirl pairs Ninja's CREAMi pint-processing system with a built-in soft-serve dispenser, so one machine can make both scoopable frozen treats and swirled soft serve at home. You freeze your base in one of the 16 oz CREAMi pints, then the machine processes it into a classic scoop-style dessert or dispenses it as soft serve through the swirl handle, which has three speed settings.
There are 13 one-touch programs covering soft serve as well as scoopable treats such as ice cream, sorbet, gelato and milkshakes, plus a Mix-In function for adding extras like chocolate, nuts or fruit. Because you make the base yourself, it is easy to experiment with your own flavors and ingredients.
The pints, lids, paddle and swirl press are BPA-free and dishwasher safe. Bases need to be frozen ahead of time, so it rewards a little planning. It suits families, dessert lovers and anyone who wants more control over what goes into their frozen treats.
What reviewers say
Reviewers enjoy the smooth, creamy soft serve and the flexibility to make many styles of frozen dessert from your own ingredients, and Bob Vila's tester found the quick-start guide helpful. The main complaints are the machine's large footprint, loud operation, the need to freeze bases about a day in advance, and a learning curve for neat swirls; some batches also need a re-spin before they turn smooth.
Pros
- Smooth, creamy soft serve
- Wide range of scoop and soft-serve programs
- Dishwasher-safe parts
- Full control over ingredients and flavors
Cons
- Large and heavy on the counter
- Loud while processing
- Bases must be frozen well in advance
