About the Ashley Altari Rocker Recliner
The Altari is a manual rocker recliner from Signature Design by Ashley with a clean, contemporary profile: track arms, a pillow back and a plush chenille-look polyester cover in a neutral alloy gray. It rocks gently when upright and reclines with a single pull of the side handle, so there is no power cord to route and nothing to plug in.
Underneath, the frame is corner-blocked with a metal-reinforced seat, the cushions are high-resiliency foam wrapped in thick poly fiber, and the seat cushion is attached so it stays put. Ashley rates it for users up to 300 lb. The chair measures 34 in wide, 39 in deep and 40 in tall, and extends to about 67 in when fully reclined, so allow space behind it.
It ships boxed and some assembly is required, typically fitting the back to the base, which needs no tools. Delivery is to your door.
What reviewers say
On Ashley's own site the Altari averages 4.7 out of 5 from 180 ratings, 82% of them five stars, and 107 of 110 reviewers say they would recommend it. Owners like its firm but comfortable support, a compact footprint that suits small rooms, sturdy fabric and a smooth rock with a reliable recline; a few mention occasional creaks or cushions firmer than expected. Sherman's shoppers score it 4.5 from 35 reviews. The less happy reviews, at Morris Home, center on the manual mechanism: one found the lever hard to pull with few positions and said the footrest would not always stay up, and another thought getting out of the chair was difficult and would rather have paid for a power version.
Pros
- Firm, supportive seat that owners say stays comfortable through long sitting
- Compact footprint for a recliner, so it fits smaller living rooms
- Smooth rocking motion and a simple one-pull recline with no power cord
- Sturdy fabric and build quality praised across 180 Ashley ratings
Cons
- Manual recline takes some effort and offers only a few positions; one reviewer's footrest would not always lock up
- Harder to get out of than a power lift chair, which matters for less mobile users
- A few owners report creaks or firmer-than-expected cushions
