About the eero Pro 6E Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6E System (2-Pack)
The eero Pro 6E is a tri-band mesh Wi-Fi 6E system that adds the less congested 6 GHz band to the familiar 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. This two-unit system covers up to 4,000 square feet, with combined throughput of up to 5,378 Mb/s and up to 2,402 Mb/s on the 6 GHz band for compatible devices.
Each unit has auto-sensing ports, one Gigabit Ethernet and one 2.5 Gigabit, so either unit can act as the router or a satellite, and the 2.5G port lets you take advantage of multi-gig internet plans. You can extend coverage later by adding more eero Pro 6E units. It also doubles as a smart home hub that supports over 100 connected devices, letting you control Thread and Zigbee gadgets by voice through Amazon Alexa.
Setup, management and monitoring all happen in the eero app for iOS and Android. It suits larger homes with lots of connected devices, 8K streaming, online gaming and video calls.
What reviewers say
Reviewers praise the eero Pro 6E's very easy app-based setup, solid whole-home coverage that copes with dozens of connected devices, and its 2.5G multi-gig port. Critics note it has only two Ethernet ports and no USB, the app is light on advanced settings, some extras need a subscription, and Android Police found compatible devices rarely connected on the 6 GHz band, so it felt the cheaper eero Pro 6 made more sense for most homes.
Pros
- Very easy setup and management
- Reliable whole-home coverage with many devices
- 2.5G multi-gig port
- Built-in smart home hub
Cons
