About the LEGO Icons 10318 Concorde
LEGO Icons 10318 is a 2,083-piece model of Concorde, the Franco-British supersonic airliner. It captures the aircraft's long, slim fuselage and curved delta wing at a large scale: the finished model measures about 41.5 inches (105 cm) long, 17 inches (43 cm) wide and 6 inches (15 cm) high, so plan for plenty of shelf space.
It's more than a static model. The landing gear works, the droop nose tilts like the real aircraft's, the elevons on the wings move and the upper and lower rudders are hinged. The seating area inside the fuselage can be accessed, and a display stand is included so you can show the plane off.
Listed as an advanced 18+ build, the set comes in 21 numbered bags that match its 21 building stages, along with a building instruction guide. It suits adult LEGO fans, aviation enthusiasts and anyone who remembers Concorde's era, and it's a natural gift for someone who loves aircraft.
What reviewers say
Brickset's reviewer praised the accurate shape of the fuselage and delta wing, the smoothly deploying landing gear, the hidden interior and the museum-style stand, and judged the price fair for a set of this scale. Drawbacks included small gaps around the lowered nose, no landing-gear doors, sideways-built wing sections that aren't the sturdiest, and a length that is hard to find room for. A Brickset member review called the build varied and engaging, with the premium price the only real reservation.
Pros
- Accurate, sleek shape of the fuselage and delta wing
- Working landing gear and droop nose add realism
- Museum-style display stand with printed information plaque
- Varied, engaging build with little repetition
Cons
- Very large model that needs a lot of display space
- Small gaps around the nose when lowered, and no landing-gear doors
- Sideways-built wing sections aren't the sturdiest, though they're well anchored
