About the Lenovo Legion Go 2 Handheld Gaming PC – AMD Ryzen Z2, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 8.8" OLED 144Hz, Eclipse Black
The Lenovo Legion Go 2 is a Windows 11 handheld gaming PC with an 8.8-inch OLED touchscreen and detachable controllers. This configuration has an AMD Ryzen Z2 processor (8 cores, 16 threads) with integrated AMD Radeon graphics, 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. It suits PC gamers who want to play their PC game libraries away from a desk, and who also want the option to connect it to a TV or monitor or use it like a compact PC.
The 8.8-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) OLED display runs at up to 144Hz, is rated at 500 nits typical and 1,100 nits peak HDR brightness, covers 100% of DCI-P3 and is certified to DisplayHDR True Black 1000, with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top. The controllers detach for tabletop play using the built-in kickstand, and the right controller has a touchpad, a mouse wheel and an FPS mode switch so it can be used like a vertical mouse on the included dock. AMD HYPER-RX in AMD Software can turn on features such as FSR upscaling and AFMF frame generation in one click.
Connectivity includes two USB4 (40Gbps) USB-C ports with USB Power Delivery charging and DisplayPort video output, a microSD card reader, a 3.5mm headphone/mic jack, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3; each controller also has a USB-C port for charging. A fingerprint reader is built into the power button. The 74Wh battery supports Rapid Charge (up to 50% in 30 minutes), cooling is Lenovo's Legion Coldfront 2.0 system, and the device weighs about 920g (2.03 lb) with the controllers attached. Memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded; the single M.2 slot accepts 2242 or 2280 drives.
In the box: the Legion Go 2 with both controllers, a carry case with a built-in controller dock, a controller protective cover for FPS mode, and a 65W USB-C power adapter.
What reviewers say
The reviews found were of the Ryzen Z2 Extreme version. Notebookcheck (83%) called the 144Hz OLED the highlight, with excellent image quality and very high HDR brightness, and liked the detachable controllers, kickstand, touchpad, FPS mode and stable performance; it criticized PWM flicker, the size and weight, and the lack of Wi-Fi 7 and SD Express. Engadget (85/100) praised the large OLED screen, the controllers' touchpad and the included case, measured almost three hours of battery life in a demanding game, found it slightly behind a rival Z2 Extreme handheld in frame rates, and called the fingerprint sensor finicky. PCWorld and Windows Central both called its display the best they had seen on a handheld; PCWorld named the Windows 11 experience as a drawback.
