About the OnePlus 15R 512GB – Unlocked, Charcoal Black

The OnePlus 15R is the lower-priced model in OnePlus's 15 series, launched in the US in December 2025. It has a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display (2800 x 1272) that runs at up to 165Hz in supported apps and reaches 1,800 nits in high-brightness mode, with Gorilla Glass 7i on the front. It uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This is the North American model, CPH2771, in Charcoal Black.

The 7,400mAh battery is the largest OnePlus had put in a phone at launch. Android Authority got about two and a half days per charge with around three hours of screen time a day. The included charger charges at 55W, or up to 80W with OnePlus's 100W Dual Ports GaN Power Adapter Lite, sold separately. There is no wireless charging. The rear cameras are a 50MP Sony IMX906 main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide, with no telephoto camera. The front camera is 32MP with autofocus, and the main camera records 4K video at up to 120fps.

The phone is rated IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K for water and dust, and has an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader. It shipped with OxygenOS 16 on Android 16, and OnePlus's policy is four years of Android updates and six years of security updates. OnePlus says owners can choose to update to ColorOS 17, based on Android 17, which is scheduled to start reaching the 15R on October 30, 2026. The phone is unlocked, has dual nano-SIM slots and eSIM support, and supports 5G on sub-6GHz bands (not mmWave). OnePlus lists AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon as compatible, along with carriers including Visible, Mint Mobile, Cricket, Metro by T-Mobile and Google Fi.

What reviewers say

Reviewers praise the OnePlus 15R's battery life and performance but disagree on its value. Android Authority got about two and a half days per charge and found it ran cooler than the OnePlus 15, but called it the most disappointing Android phone it used in 2025, citing weaker cameras, no wireless charging, frustrating software and another price increase. Android Central also recommended the OnePlus 13R instead, mainly because the 15R drops the telephoto camera. TechRadar was more positive, calling it a fantastic mid-range phone that lasts two days, while marking it down for the missing telephoto, a $100 US price rise and four years of OS updates. GSMArena called it a very good phone with class-leading battery life and a strong main camera. PhoneArena rated it 7.2 out of 10, calling it good value with a safe design and an average camera.

Pros

  • Battery life: Android Authority got about two and a half days per charge; TechRadar calls it top-of-the-line and GSMArena class-leading
  • Fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 performance; Android Authority found it ran cooler than the OnePlus 15 under stress testing
  • Bright, high-quality display (Android Authority, Android Central, GSMArena)
  • IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K durability (Android Authority, Android Central, PhoneArena)

Cons

  • No telephoto camera and a basic 8MP ultrawide; Android Central calls the cameras underwhelming and PhoneArena just okay
  • No wireless charging (Android Authority, GSMArena)
  • US price rose $100 over the OnePlus 13R; Android Authority and Android Central suggest the 13R instead
