About the Amazon Kindle Scribe 16GB with Premium Pen – Tungsten
The Amazon Kindle Scribe is a large-screen Kindle that doubles as a digital notebook. Its 10.2-inch glare-free E Ink display has a crisp 300 ppi resolution and an adjustable front light, so you can read books and documents or write by hand in bright or dim rooms without the glare of a regular tablet screen.
The included Premium Pen writes straight onto the screen and never needs charging. Use it for meeting notes, to-do lists or a journal, or to mark up PDFs and documents. Built-in AI notebook tools can turn your handwriting into typed text and help summarize or tidy up your notes. This version has 16GB of storage in a Tungsten finish, enough for plenty of books and notebooks.
Battery life is counted in weeks rather than hours, with a rating of up to 12 weeks. It connects over Wi-Fi to sync your Kindle purchases and notes with your Amazon account. At 15.3 ounces and 0.56 cm thick, it's a good fit if you want to read and write by hand on one device, whether for study, work or a growing book collection.
What reviewers say
Reviewers like the Kindle Scribe's paper-like writing feel, its comfortable included pen and its sharp, glare-free screen, and see it as a capable reading and note-taking device. Some felt the hardware changed little from the original Scribe, others found the Active Canvas and AI note tools hit-and-miss, and several said the price sits close to an iPad's.
Pros
- Natural, paper-like writing feel
- Included pen is comfortable and needs no charging
- Sharp 300 ppi display with adjustable warm light
- Battery lasts weeks between charges
Cons
- Only minor hardware changes over the first-generation Scribe
- Active Canvas and AI handwriting tools can be inconsistent
- Pricey for a black-and-white E Ink device, and not waterproof
