About the Aura Carver Stone 10.1-Inch Wi-Fi Digital Picture Frame – Black
The Aura Carver Stone is a 10.1-inch Wi-Fi digital picture frame in black, part of Aura's Carver line. It displays photos in landscape and pairs portrait shots side by side, so vertical photos are shown together on the screen.
Setup runs through the free Aura app, which connects the frame to Wi-Fi and handles uploads. Photos and videos can be sent from the app to one frame or several, with captions if you like. Aura says there are no subscription fees and no limit on the number of photos and videos you can add.
A touch bar on the frame lets you switch between photos or view details, and there is a built-in speaker. The HD display adjusts to the lighting in the room and switches off when it gets dark, and Aura delivers regular software updates. It makes an easy gift for relatives who would rather enjoy new family photos than manage a gadget.
What reviewers say
Reviewers of the standard Aura Carver, the frame this Stone edition is based on, praise its sharp, colorful screen, quick app-based setup that can be done before gifting, and easy photo sharing. The main drawbacks they note are that it only works in landscape, it depends on a Wi-Fi connection, and there is no USB or memory-card slot for loading photos directly.
Pros
- Sharp, colorful screen that looks good from different angles
- Quick setup, which can be done in advance for gifting
- Easy-to-use app that lets family add photos remotely
- Portrait photos are paired to fill the landscape screen
Cons
- Landscape orientation only
- Needs a Wi-Fi connection to work
- No USB or memory-card slot
