About the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 8K Action Camera
The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is an action camera with a Leica lens that records 8K video and captures 50-megapixel photos. It is aimed at creators, riders and adventure-sports fans who want high-resolution footage from a compact camera that can come along wherever they go.
Insta360 offers the Ace Pro 2 in creator kits, such as the Xplorer and Videography bundles, that add accessories for different styles of shooting. Video can be saved in the widely supported H.264/AVC format.
It suits vloggers, cyclists, motorcyclists and travelers who want an action camera that can handle both high-resolution video and detailed still photos.
What reviewers say
Tom's Guide, TechRadar, T3 and Digital Camera World generally see the Ace Pro 2 as a strong action camera, praising its well-stabilized 4K footage with I-Log, good low-light results by action-cam standards, clear built-in microphones, a handy flip-up screen and a polished phone app. The main drawbacks reviewers mention are a body that is bulkier and heavier than some rivals and an 8K mode with enough limitations that many owners will rarely use it.
Pros
- Good low-light performance for an action camera
- Clear audio from the built-in microphones
- Flip-up screen helps with vlogging and mounted shots
- Well-designed smartphone app
Cons
- Bulkier and heavier than some competitors
- 8K mode has limitations and creates very large files
