About the NETGEAR Nighthawk Mesh WiFi 6 System (Router + 1 Satellite)
The NETGEAR Nighthawk Mesh WiFi 6 System pairs a router with a satellite to spread Wi-Fi more evenly through your home. Place the satellite where your signal usually drops off, and the two units work together to cover up to 3,000 square feet, helping cut down on dead zones.
Wi-Fi 6 is designed to handle more connected devices at the same time, which suits busy households where several people are streaming video and gaming online at once. The system is dual-band, supports Gigabit Ethernet, and you can add more satellites later if you need to stretch coverage further.
Both units are compact and finished in black, so they are easy to fit into most rooms. It suits small to mid-size homes looking for a straightforward mesh upgrade.
What reviewers say
In hands-on testing of the same router and satellite hardware (sold as the 3-pack MK63), Dong Knows Tech found this Nighthawk Wi-Fi 6 mesh reliable, affordable and compact, with support for wired backhaul. Because it is dual-band with no dedicated backhaul band, signal drops at the satellite, and the reviewer also noted very few Ethernet ports, limited advanced settings and a paid security add-on after the trial.
Pros
- Reliable day-to-day performance
- Affordable for a Wi-Fi 6 mesh system
- Compact units that are easy to place
- Supports wired backhaul between units
Cons
- No dedicated backhaul band, so the satellite connection is weaker
- Only one or two Ethernet ports per unit
- Limited advanced settings; security add-on is a paid subscription
