About the Insta360 X5 8K 360° Action Camera Bundle with Zoom Instamic Pro Plus C Recorder
The Insta360 X5 is a pocket-sized 360° camera that captures everything around you at once, so you can choose your framing afterward. It records 360° video at up to 8K/30fps, or 5.7K at up to 60fps, and takes 360° photos of approximately 72MP. Switch to single-lens mode and it works like a regular action camera, shooting up to 4K/60fps.
It's made for active use. The camera is waterproof to 49ft (15m), runs on a 2400mAh battery that charges to 80% in about 20 minutes with a compatible fast charger, and includes a 6-axis gyroscope. Shooting modes include PureVideo, InstaFrame 2.0, Timelapse, TimeShift, Bullet Time and Me Mode, and it records in H.264 or H.265.
This bundle pairs the X5 with a Zoom Instamic Pro Plus C, a compact waterproof audio recorder, making it a good fit for riders, hikers, travelers and creators who want better sound to go with their 360° footage.
What reviewers say
Reviewers rate the X5 among the top 360° cameras available, with Tom's Guide and TechRadar both naming it a leading pick when tested. They praise its sharp 8K 360° footage, noticeably better low-light results than the X4, and a tougher design with user-replaceable lenses. The main complaints are battery drain in demanding modes, a modest upgrade for existing X4 owners, and a higher price than its predecessor.
Pros
- Sharp 8K 360° video with improved low-light performance
- More rugged build with user-replaceable lenses
- Handy voice and gesture controls
- Very versatile, with 360° and single-lens shooting in one camera
Cons
- Battery can drain quickly in demanding modes, and single-lens runtime is down versus the X4
- Only a modest upgrade for X4 owners
- Costs more than the model it replaced
