About the Apple iPhone 16e 128GB – White
The iPhone 16e is Apple's entry-level model in the iPhone 16 generation. This is the 128GB version in White, sold unlocked, with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and Apple's A18 chip, which also supports Apple Intelligence features.
Around the back is a single 48MP Fusion camera that can also capture 2x optical-quality telephoto shots, and it records 4K Dolby Vision video at up to 60 fps. The 12MP TrueDepth front camera handles selfies and Face ID. Apple's own C1 modem provides 5G, and Apple rates the battery for up to 26 hours of video playback. The aluminum design has a Ceramic Shield front and an IP68 rating for water and dust.
It's a good fit if you're moving up from an older iPhone and want modern features, USB-C charging and long battery life without needing a multi-camera setup. Keep in mind that it charges wirelessly with standard Qi chargers and uses eSIM only, with no physical SIM slot on US models.
What reviewers say
Reviewers broadly found the iPhone 16e a capable modern iPhone, praising its battery life and performance close to the standard iPhone 16, and noting that Apple's first in-house C1 modem held its own in testing. The main criticisms were the missing MagSafe support, the single rear camera with no ultrawide lens, and a 60Hz notched display, which led several reviewers to question its value as a budget pick.
Pros
- Long battery life was the most frequently praised feature
- Performance close to the standard iPhone 16, with full Apple Intelligence support
- Apple's new C1 modem performed well in reviewers' testing
- Sharp OLED screen and a premium-feeling build for an entry-level iPhone
Cons
- No MagSafe magnetic charging or accessory support
- Single rear camera with no ultrawide lens
- 60Hz display and a notch instead of the Dynamic Island
