About the Bird Buddy Smart Solar Bird Feeder with Camera and Perch Extender – Blue
The Bird Buddy Smart Solar Bird Feeder puts a camera right at your backyard feeder. When birds stop by, the built-in HD camera captures photos and short video clips and sends them to your phone through the Bird Buddy app, which notifies you of visits, helps identify species and keeps a personal collection of your sightings.
Solar power helps keep the camera's lithium-ion battery charged. The feeder is made from weather-resistant ABS plastic with a protective roof, holds about 4 cups (0.9 L) of seed and has a single feeding port. This version includes a perch extender that gives birds a larger landing area.
It suits families, nature lovers and educators who want a closer look at local wildlife without standing at the window with binoculars. The blue feeder can hang or be mounted on a pole. Adult assembly is required, and the tools are included.
What reviewers say
Reviewers enjoy Bird Buddy's app and say the solar roof is the add-on most worth having, with testers rarely needing to bring the camera inside to charge. On the downside, AI species identification is not always right, some visits are missed, several features sit behind a paid subscription, and larger birds can struggle to land without the perch extender.
Pros
- Engaging app that makes birdwatching fun for the whole family
- Solar roof keeps the camera charged for long stretches
- Close-up photos and short clips of visiting birds
Cons
- Species identification is not always accurate
- Some features require a paid subscription
- Premium price compared with standard feeders
