What reviewers say
Reviewers see the Quest 3S as an affordable way into VR. They note that it uses the same processor as the Quest 3, adds color passthrough compared with the Quest 2, and gives access to Meta's large app library. The trade-offs are in the optics: lower resolution than the Quest 3, older Fresnel lenses with a more visible screen-door effect, a narrower field of view, and preset lens spacing instead of finer adjustment.
Pros
- Same processor as the Quest 3 at a lower cost
- Color passthrough for mixed reality, an upgrade over Quest 2
- Large library of standalone games and apps
- Comfortable and easy to set up
Cons
- Lower resolution and Fresnel lenses make the image grainier than Quest 3
- Lens spacing uses preset positions with a narrower range
- Stock fabric strap and battery life are limited
