About the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the flagship Ultra model in Samsung's Galaxy S26 range, built around the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor with 12GB of RAM. Its display includes a built-in Privacy Display that can hide the whole screen, specific apps, notification pop-ups or PIN entry from people nearby. You can turn it on from the Quick Panel or with a double-press of the side button.
Photography is a big draw. A 200MP wide camera leads a four-lens rear setup that also includes a 50MP ultra wide, a 50MP 5x telephoto and a 10MP 3x telephoto, with up to 100x AI-powered zoom. The 12MP front camera handles selfies and calls.
A 5,000 mAh battery is rated for up to 31 hours of video playback, and Super Fast Charging 3.0 can reach about 75% in roughly 30 minutes. The Armor Aluminum frame keeps the phone at 7.9 mm thick and 214 g. It suits power users, mobile photographers and anyone who wants Samsung's top Galaxy S model with extra on-screen privacy.
What reviewers say
Reviewers call the Galaxy S26 Ultra one of the most desirable Android flagships. They highlight its more comfortable design, excellent screen, smooth performance, faster charging and a Privacy Display with real everyday benefits. Downsides include cameras that change little from the previous model, with some processing quirks at 5x zoom, average battery life, no built-in magnets for Qi2 accessories, and a high price. Owners of recent Ultra models may not need to upgrade.
Pros
- More comfortable, refined design
- Excellent display, with a genuinely useful Privacy Display
- Smooth performance and software
- Faster charging than before
Cons
- Camera improvements are small, with some processing issues at 5x zoom
- Battery life is only average
- No built-in Qi2 magnets, and the S Pen has lost Bluetooth features
