About the LG 5.0 cu ft Mega Capacity Top Load Washer with TurboDrum
The LG WT7150CW is a 27-inch top load washer with a 5.0 cu ft stainless steel drum, large enough for a king-size comforter or a week of family laundry. Instead of a centre agitator it uses an impeller with LG's TurboDrum, which turns the drum and wash plate in opposite directions for a thorough but gentle wash, and 6Motion technology that varies the drum movement to suit the cycle.
There are eight cycles, including Normal, Heavy Duty, Bedding, Speed Wash, Delicates, Waterproof and Tub Clean, selected with a Dial-A-Cycle knob and an LED display. The Water Plus option adds extra water for bulky loads, ColdWash is designed to clean in cold water to save on heating, and LoadSense sets the water level automatically. A SlamProof glass lid lets you see the load, and SmartDiagnosis helps with troubleshooting.
It is ENERGY STAR certified and uses a standard 120 V outlet. The cabinet is 27 in wide and 44 1/2 in tall; allow extra height for the lid to open. Its matching dryer is the LG 7.3 cu ft Electric Dryer with Sensor Dry (DLE7150W). Delivery is to the door.
What reviewers say
Consumer Reports lists the WT7150CW with an excellent overall score, although its detailed ratings sit behind a paywall. Owner feedback is thinner than for LG's bigger sellers: one 2024 owner rated it 8 out of 10, liking the large tub but finding the bottom of the deep drum a stretch to reach, and a retailer review pool of around 40 ratings averaged 3.9 out of 5, with most at five stars and about one in five at one star. LG's own listing stresses the TurboDrum and 6Motion wash, the Water Plus option for bulky items and a stainless drum that will not chip and snag clothes. The model has since been replaced in LG's range, so supply is from remaining stock.
Pros
- Excellent overall rating from Consumer Reports
- Large 5.0 cu ft stainless drum for bedding and big loads
- Simple dial-and-display controls; glass lid to see the load
- Water Plus and Deep Wash settings for loads that need more water
Cons
- Deep drum means a reach to the bottom for shorter users
- Owner ratings on smaller retailer sites are mixed, with a notable share of one-star reports
- No Wi-Fi app control; model now superseded in LG's line-up
