About the DeWalt 20V MAX XR Cordless String Trimmer & Brushless Blower Combo Kit with 4.0Ah Battery (DCKO215M1)
This DeWalt 20V MAX combo kit pairs a cordless string trimmer with a brushless handheld blower, the two tools most yards need to finish things off after mowing. Both run on DeWalt's 20V MAX lithium-ion batteries, and the kit includes a 4.0Ah battery and a charger, so you have everything you need to get started.
The DCST925 string trimmer cuts a 13-inch swath with 0.080-inch line from a bump-feed spool. Its gear-drive transmission and variable-speed trigger (0–6,300 RPM) let you balance power and runtime when you're trimming grass or working through overgrowth. It has a straight, non-split shaft.
When the trimming is done, the DCBL722 handheld axial blower clears away clippings and debris. Its brushless motor moves up to 450 CFM of air and reaches up to 125 mph with the concentrator nozzle. The kit suits homeowners who want gas-free, battery-powered yard tools, especially if they already use other DeWalt 20V MAX tools.
What reviewers say
Reviews of the two tools in this kit are broadly positive. Pro Tool Reviews found the DCBL722 blower a clear step up in air speed and volume over DeWalt's earlier model, and owners of the DCST925 trimmer say it has enough power for thick grass and weeds on smaller yards. Common complaints are trimmer line that doesn't always feed reliably, a trimmer that feels heavy at the motor end, and fast battery drain when the blower runs flat out.
Pros
- Blower gives a noticeable boost in air speed and volume over DeWalt's earlier model
- Trimmer handles thick grass and weeds on smaller yards
- Variable speed control on both tools
- Shares batteries with the wider 20V MAX tool range
Cons
- Some owners report trimmer line feeding problems
- Trimmer weight sits toward the motor end
- Blower drains batteries quickly at full power
