About the Traeger Pro Series 34 Pellet Grill – Bronze
The Traeger Pro Series 34 is a large freestanding wood pellet grill for cooks who want plenty of room to smoke, grill, bake and roast. It offers 884 square inches of total cooking space: a 34 x 19 inch main grate plus a 34 x 7 inch upper rack. That's room for around 40 burgers across both levels, or up to nine racks of ribs on the main grate.
The Digital Pro Controller with Advanced Grilling Logic aims to hold your set temperature within about 15°F. Settings run from a low smoke mode up to 450°F in 25-degree steps, and the auger feeds pellets automatically from an 18-pound hopper that has a clean-out for easy emptying. Electronic auto-start ignition gets it going, and it plugs into a standard household outlet.
The sawhorse-style chassis is built for stability, with a side-lift bar and all-terrain wheels with locking casters for rolling it over pavers, rocks or dirt. Porcelain-coated steel grates, a bronze powder-coated finish and an included meat probe complete the package.
What reviewers say
GearJunkie, Outdoor Life and The Online Grill found the Pro Series 34 sturdy, versatile and easy to use, with steady temperatures and good results on long smokes. They also noted it heats up more slowly and tops out lower than a gas grill, so it's less suited to high-heat searing, and it has no Wi-Fi. Some owner reviews at BBQGuys and other retailers report the grill running cooler than its set temperature or struggling to reach its top setting.
Pros
- Very large cooking area for big gatherings
- Sturdy build once assembled
- Steady temperatures for long, low-and-slow cooks
- Large hopper with a handy clean-out
Cons
- Slower to heat and lower top temperature than gas grills
- No Wi-Fi or app control
- Some owners report actual temperatures running below the display
