About the Blackstone Iron Forged 36" 4-Burner Propane Griddle with Hood
Blackstone's Iron Forged 36-inch griddle gives you 768 square inches of flat-top cooking space over four burners, each with its own control, so you can run different heat zones at once - searing burgers on one side while keeping eggs or vegetables gentler on the other. It runs on liquid propane and lights with an electric push-button igniter.
The cold-rolled steel Omnivore griddle plate is paired with built-in wind guards to help hold heat on breezy days, and the reinforced X-brace hood closes over the cooktop. A rear grease management system channels drippings away from the cooking surface. Around the cooktop you get an extendable side shelf, a rail system with an accessory bin for Blackstone BAR accessories, and a paper towel holder.
It suits families and backyard cooks who regularly feed a crowd, with room for up to 24 burgers at a time. Four locking swivel casters help you roll it into place, though at about 130 lb it is a heavy unit, and assembly is required.
What reviewers say
Bob Vila's tester, using the cabinet version of this same 36-inch Iron Forged cooktop and hood, ranked it among Blackstone's most impressive griddles: with all four burners on high it reached searing temperatures, separate heat zones were easy to run side by side, and the hood helped with thicker cuts and quicker preheating. The downsides were a roughly two-hour assembly that is easier with a helper, the need to season the surface before first use, and rail accessories that cost extra.
Pros
- Gets hot enough for a hard sear
- Four burners make multi-zone cooking easy
- Hood helps with thicker cuts and preheating
- Wind guards help hold heat outdoors
Cons
- Assembly takes about two hours and is easier with a helper
- Griddle surface must be seasoned before first use
- Extra rail accessories are sold separately
