About the Garmin Venu 4 GPS Smartwatch (45mm)
Garmin Venu 4 is a GPS smartwatch with a stainless steel design and a bright AMOLED touchscreen, aimed at people who want detailed fitness and wellness tracking in a watch that also looks at home at the office. This version has a 45mm round case and weighs about 38 grams.
Garmin rates battery life at up to 12 days in smartwatch mode. Built-in dual-frequency GPS records outdoor runs, rides and walks, and more than 80 preloaded sports apps cover everything from strength training to activities for wheelchair users. Garmin Coach plans, daily suggested workouts and animated workouts help structure training. The watch is also designed to track sleep, heart rate and Body Battery energy levels, and its health status feature points out when your readings move away from your usual range; Garmin notes that all metrics are estimates.
Paired with a smartphone, you can take calls through the built-in speaker and microphone, see notifications and control music, and Garmin Pay handles contactless payments. Accessibility touches include spoken watch faces and color filters for people with color blindness, and quick-release bands make it easy to swap straps.
What reviewers say
Tom's Guide's review praised the Venu 4's premium stainless steel design, bright AMOLED screen, choice of two sizes, handy built-in flashlight and the advanced training tools it shares with Garmin's Forerunner line. It noted a big price jump over the Venu 3, fewer buttons than the similar Forerunner 570, few genuinely new smartwatch features and slightly shorter battery life than its predecessor (12 days versus 14 in smartwatch mode).
Pros
- Premium stainless steel design
- Bright AMOLED display
- Advanced training and wellness tools
- Built-in flashlight
Cons
- Big price jump from the Venu 3
