About the Samsung Galaxy Ring Smart Ring
Samsung Galaxy Ring is a lightweight smart ring that tracks activity and sleep from your finger, as an alternative to wearing a smartwatch around the clock. It has a titanium frame and comes in three scratch-resistant finishes, Titanium Black, Titanium Silver and Titanium Gold, in sizes 5 to 15.
Three sensors do the work: an accelerometer that automatically detects walks and runs, an optical bio-signal sensor for heart rate tracking, and a skin temperature sensor that takes readings while you sleep. Results appear in the Samsung Health app, where Galaxy AI features such as a daily Energy Score and personalized Wellness Tips summarize your data, with no app subscription fee. It needs a compatible smartphone with the Samsung Health app and a Samsung account, and Galaxy AI features and gesture controls require a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone.
Samsung rates the battery at up to 7 days for sizes 12 and 13 (up to 6 days for smaller sizes), and the clear charging case with LED indicator stores extra charge for up to 14 days of use without plugging in. The ring is rated 10ATM and IP68 for water resistance. It suits Galaxy phone owners who want discreet everyday wellness tracking.
What reviewers say
Reviewers find the Galaxy Ring comfortable, lightweight and attractive, with useful AI-driven health insights, solid sleep tracking, several days of battery life and a handy charging case, and they appreciate that there is no monthly fee. On the downside, it is pricey for a tracker with no screen, the sizing process is tedious, the best features are tied to Samsung phones, and PCMag saw some accuracy issues in testing.
Pros
- Comfortable, lightweight design
- Multi-day battery and portable charging case
- No subscription fee
- Helpful sleep and wellness insights
Cons
- Expensive for a screenless tracker
- Sizing process is tedious
- Best features limited to Samsung phones
