About the Meta Ray-Ban Display AI Glasses with Meta Neural Band – Shiny Black, Transitions Lenses
Meta Ray-Ban Display are AI glasses with a private, full-color display built into the right lens, paired with the Meta Neural Band, a wristband that reads subtle muscle signals at your wrist so you can control the glasses with small hand gestures. This version has a Shiny Black Ray-Ban frame with Transitions lenses.
The 600 x 600 in-lens display appears when you call it up, showing messages and replies from WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram, live captions and translations of conversations, walking directions and visual answers from Meta AI about what you are looking at. A 12MP camera with 3x zoom uses the display as a viewfinder, and two-way video calling lets the other person see your point of view. A capture LED lets people nearby know when you are recording.
Meta rates the glasses at up to 6 hours of mixed use, with the folding charging case adding up to 24 hours more, and the Neural Band at up to 18 hours. The glasses are IPX4 water resistant, and everything is managed in the Meta AI app. They suit early adopters who want hands-free messaging, navigation and capture without reaching for a phone.
What reviewers say
Reviewers say the Ray-Ban Display has some of the most capable hardware of any smart glasses so far, with a bright, sharp in-lens display that stays readable outdoors and a Neural Band whose gesture controls work well after a little practice. The criticisms are the high price, limited third-party app support in a largely closed Meta ecosystem, uneven maps and notification support, chunky frames and having two devices to charge.
Pros
- Bright, sharp in-lens display
- Neural Band gesture controls work well
- Capable Meta AI, messaging and translation features
Cons
- Expensive
- Mostly locked to Meta's apps and services
- Chunky frames and two devices to charge
