About the Garmin Vivoactive 6 GPS Smartwatch, 42 mm
The Garmin Vivoactive 6 is a GPS smartwatch built around health and fitness tracking, made for people who want everyday wellness insights with plenty of workout options. Its 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen supports an always-on mode and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, all in a 42 mm case with an aluminum bezel.
Body Battery energy monitoring helps you judge when you have the energy for a workout and when rest would do you more good. A sleep score, sleep-stage and nap tracking, and a smart wake alarm help you understand and improve your sleep. Wrist-based heart rate, Pulse Ox, stress tracking and women's health features round out the health tools. For training, there are Garmin Coach plans and daily workout suggestions, along with profiles for cardio, strength, HIIT, yoga and Pilates, plus PacePro pacing.
Built-in GPS, Garmin Pay, music storage and phone notifications cover daily life, and battery life is rated at up to 11 days. It's water-rated to 5 ATM for swimming, and quick-release 20 mm bands make it easy to change the look.
What reviewers say
Reviewers like the Vivoactive 6 as a light, comfortable everyday smartwatch with a smoother redesigned interface and useful features such as PacePro pacing and smart wake alarms, and several see it as good value for casual and intermediate exercisers. The downsides they mention are battery life that's only middling by Garmin standards, a single 42 mm size, no multi-band GPS, and fewer advanced running tools than the Forerunner range.
Pros
- Light, compact and comfortable to wear overnight
- Bright AMOLED screen
- Wide range of fitness, sleep and recovery features
- Smoother, more modern interface
Cons
- Battery life is only average for a Garmin
- Available in just one 42 mm size
- No multi-band GPS and fewer tools for serious runners
