About the Samsung Galaxy Watch9 40mm Bluetooth Smartwatch – Graphite
The Samsung Galaxy Watch9 is a slim everyday smartwatch built around health, sleep and fitness tracking. This is the 40mm Bluetooth model in Graphite, a good fit for smaller wrists or anyone who prefers a lighter watch. It connects to your phone over Bluetooth rather than having its own LTE connection.
It's the first Galaxy Watch with the Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform, and the 40mm model's 390mAh battery is 20% larger than the Galaxy Watch8 40mm's. The sapphire crystal display reaches up to 3,000 nits for easy reading outdoors. The aluminum case is rated 5ATM and IP68 and meets MIL-STD-810H, and dual-frequency GPS helps with route tracking on runs and rides.
Health tools include Energy Score, Bedtime Guidance, a sleep apnea feature, ECG, blood pressure monitoring (calibrated with a separate cuff), Vitals, Antioxidant Index and Running Coach, and Google Gemini is built in. Many health features need an Android phone with the Samsung Health app, and some require a Samsung Galaxy phone.
What reviewers say
Reviewers see the Galaxy Watch9 as a polished but modest update. The new Snapdragon chip feels quicker, the slim design and softer bands are comfortable, the bright screen stays readable outdoors, and health tools like Energy Score are useful without a subscription. Battery life is the most common complaint, with most testers charging daily, and some features are tied to Samsung phones.
Pros
- Faster, smoother performance from the new Snapdragon chip
- Comfortable, slim design with softer bands
- Bright display that's readable in direct sunlight
- Broad health and sleep tracking with no subscription needed
Cons
- Battery life usually means charging every night
- Some health features require a Samsung Galaxy phone
- Only a modest step up from the Galaxy Watch8
