About the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF 27-inch 4K 240Hz Gaming Monitor (S27FG812SU)
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 (G81SF) is a 27-inch gaming monitor that combines 4K UHD resolution with a fast 240 Hz refresh rate. It's aimed at PC gamers who want sharp detail and smooth motion on the same screen, and who have a graphics card that can push high frame rates at 4K.
The OLED panel runs at 3840 x 2160, and the monitor's listed response time is 0 ms, which helps keep fast action crisp in shooters, racing games and other quick-moving titles. HDMI and DisplayPort inputs make it easy to connect a gaming PC or a console.

It's a good fit for competitive and story-driven gaming alike, as well as for anyone who wants a sharp, fast screen for everyday work, photo editing and streaming video.
What reviewers say
Reviewers rate the G81SF as a top-tier 4K 240 Hz gaming monitor, praising its deep blacks and vivid color in dark rooms, very low input lag and the sharpness of 4K at 27 inches. Drawbacks include VRR flicker when Samsung's VRR Control setting is off, blacks that look purplish in bright rooms, no USB-C or KVM features, and a premium price.
Pros
- Excellent contrast and vivid colors in dark rooms
- Very responsive 240 Hz motion with low input lag
- Matte, glare-free finish praised by TechSpot
- Sharp 4K detail on a 27-inch screen
Cons
- VRR flicker can be distracting unless VRR Control is turned on
- Blacks take on a purple tint in bright rooms
- No USB-C or KVM, and pricey for the feature set
