About the LG OLED evo AI G5 4K Smart TV
The LG OLED evo G5 is a 4K OLED smart TV for viewers who want a bright, high-contrast picture in rooms that aren't fully dark. Its Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen2 handles upscaling and personalized picture tuning, and LG's Discomfort Glare Free screen is designed to cut reflections in bright spaces. Dolby Vision is supported for HDR movies and shows, along with FILMMAKER MODE.
Gamers get a native 120Hz panel with VRR up to 165Hz, NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium, plus four HDMI ports. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Ethernet, Bluetooth, eARC and AirPlay 2, and the webOS platform brings together Netflix, Disney+, YouTube and Prime Video, with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant support.
LG's One Wall Design is intended for wall mounting, and a wall mount comes in the box. Dolby Atmos audio with a virtual 11.1.2 up-mix plays through a built-in 4.2-channel speaker system, and the Magic Remote adds voice control.
What reviewers say
Reviewers single out the G5's brightness as a big step forward for OLED, saying it makes daytime viewing far more practical, and credit the improved anti-glare screen with handling reflections well. The main complaints are dull built-in sound, no HDR10+ or DTS passthrough, and a high price next to LG's own C5. RTINGS also saw some banding in dark HDR10 scenes and suggests Dolby Vision where available.
Pros
- Very bright for an OLED, making it practical in bright rooms
- Improved anti-glare screen handles reflections well
- Deep blacks with vivid, punchy HDR highlights
- Strong gaming support with VRR
Cons
- Built-in speakers sound dull
- No HDR10+ support or DTS passthrough
- Expensive compared with the LG C5
