About the Samsung 85" Class Neo QLED 4K QN70F Vision AI Smart TV
The Samsung 85" Class QN70F is part of Samsung's Neo QLED 4K range, which uses Mini LEDs and Quantum Matrix Technology to control the light across the screen. The NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor optimizes picture settings automatically and upscales content to 4K, while Motion Xcelerator 144Hz adds high refresh rate support for gaming. Filmmaker Mode is there when you want films to look the way they were intended.
Four HDMI ports cover consoles, streaming devices and a soundbar, with Wi-Fi and Ethernet for getting online. Audio features include Dolby Atmos support, Object Tracking Sound Lite, Adaptive Sound and Active Voice Amplifier Pro, and Q-Symphony works with a compatible soundbar. Smart features include Samsung TV Plus, the Art Store and Daily Board, voice control with Bixby, Alexa or Google Assistant, a built-in SmartThings and Matter hub, and a SolarCell Remote. The AirSlim design has a roughly 1-inch profile, and a stand is included.
It suits a large living room or game room where you want a big 4K screen for movies, sports and console or PC gaming.
What reviewers say
Reviewers see the QN70F as a capable but middling TV that looks best in a moderately lit room, where its strong SDR brightness overcomes glare, and for gaming, thanks to very low input lag, VRR and up to 4K at 144Hz over its HDMI 2.1 ports. The main criticisms are low contrast and ineffective local dimming in a dark room, noticeable blur in fast motion, distracting reflections and no Dolby Vision support, with Tom's Guide noting that rival Mini LED sets offer better backlighting and color for similar money.
Pros
- Bright SDR picture that overcomes glare in a moderately lit room
- Very low input lag with VRR support for gaming
- Four HDMI 2.1 ports that handle up to 4K at 144Hz
Cons
- Low contrast and ineffective local dimming in dark rooms
- Slow response time causes blur in fast action, and reflections can be distracting
- No Dolby Vision; rivals often beat it on picture for the money
