About the ASUS TUF Gaming VG249Q3A 23.8" Full HD 180Hz IPS Gaming Monitor
The ASUS TUF Gaming VG249Q3A is a 23.8-inch Full HD gaming monitor for players who want smoother motion without moving to a bigger screen. Its IPS panel runs at up to 180Hz with a 1ms response time, so shooters, racing games and other fast action look fluid and crisp.
Full HD (1920 x 1080) is easier for a graphics card to drive at high frame rates than higher resolutions, which helps you get the most from that 180Hz refresh. The 24-inch-class size fits comfortably on most desks, including bedroom and dorm setups, and rated brightness is 250 cd/m².
It's a straightforward choice for a first gaming monitor, or an upgrade from an older 60Hz display.
What reviewers say
Reviewers and buyers generally see the VG249Q3A as a good-value budget gaming monitor. The 180Hz refresh and fast response keep motion smooth, shoppers like the IPS panel's color and viewing angles, and testberichte.de notes its low power draw. The common complaints are a tilt-only stand, modest 250-nit brightness that makes HDR of little use, and no HDMI 2.1, so consoles can't use its variable refresh rate.
Pros
- Smooth, clean motion at 180Hz for competitive games
- Vivid colors and wide viewing angles from the IPS panel
- Good value for a first high-refresh monitor
- Low power consumption
Cons
- Stand only tilts, with no height adjustment
- 250-nit brightness is only adequate in bright rooms and makes HDR of little use
- No HDMI 2.1, so consoles can't use its variable refresh rate
