About the Samsung Galaxy Watch8
The Samsung Galaxy Watch8 is a Wear OS smartwatch for Android users who want detailed health tracking and smart features in a slim 8.6 mm case. This listing is the 40mm Bluetooth version in Graphite, with an aluminum case, a Super AMOLED always-on display and sapphire crystal glass to resist scratches.
It tracks heart rate, sleep, steps, calories and runs, and built-in GPS uses Galileo, BeiDou and GLONASS for outdoor workouts. Running coach features help newer runners build up, while interval training and multisport modes cover a wider range of activities. Galaxy AI features are built in, and Google Gemini is supported as a voice assistant.
Day to day, it shows calls, texts, email and calendar alerts, controls your music, and supports Samsung Wallet for tap-to-pay. There's 32 GB of storage, IP68 and 5 ATM water resistance, and MIL-STD-810H durability. A magnetic charger and sport band are included, the band is interchangeable, and the watch fits neatly with other Samsung devices such as Galaxy phones and the Galaxy Ring.
What reviewers say
Reviewers see the Galaxy Watch8 as a well-judged refresh of Samsung's mainline watch. They praise its thinner, lighter and more comfortable design, very bright display, strong health and sleep tracking with a new running coach, and the addition of Google's Gemini assistant. The main drawbacks they note are battery life of about a day with slow charging, health features that work best or only with Samsung phones, and a new band attachment that older Galaxy Watch straps don't fit.
Pros
- Thin, light and comfortable to wear
- Very bright display
- Strong health and sleep tracking, plus a running coach
- Google's Gemini assistant built in
Cons
- Battery lasts about a day and charging is slow
- Some health features need a Samsung phone
- New band system means older Galaxy Watch straps don't fit
